Ballet
Ballet is the backbone and the foundation of all forms of dance. Ballet teaches the dancer correct posture, positioning, discipline, musicality, grace, and flexibility. All things that are important and necessary to execute all forms of dance correctly. Therefore, we suggest that all dancers take at least one ballet class a week and competitive dancers take at least two to three ballet classes a week (mandatory for competitive dancers).
Jazz
Jazz classes are an upbeat class danced to popular and theatrical music, with an emphasis on style and technique. Jazz takes a twist on ballet with innovative rhythms and styles. Most jazz classes begin with a warm-up founded on technique, strengthening and stretching, followed by combinations across the floor and in center. Jazz is a high energy, fun, and passion filled class.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a melting pot of all dance styles! With mixes of popular upbeat songs, slower R&B and some good old throwbacks you and your kids will enjoy; hip hop classes are a great push for your dancer. Our instructor focuses on proper technique, performance and making sure your dancer is comfortable and confident!
Tap
Tap classes are fun, exciting and full of rhythm and percussion. The dancer learns to use their toe and heel in tap shoes to create sounds and rhythms. It is done with music and a cappella. The class begins with a warm up working on basic steps then moving on to more difficult combinations set to all different kinds of music. Tap is a full body workout which encompasses many styles and techniques.
Pilates/Acro
This class is for dancers to strengthen their core through basic Pilates mat work moving into acrobatic skills from somersaults to cartwheels, headstands, walk overs and aerials, all done in rhythmic combinations so as to enhance the dancers ability to exhibit more skills in choreography. This class is geared towards intense core strengthening, flexibility, and rhythmic movement for the competitive and noncompetitive dancer.
Acro (ages 5-8)
This class begins with stretching and strengthening which will help the student with their acrobatic skills. The class is done on mats and focuses on acrobatic tricks, beginning with somersaults, cartwheels, backbends, handstands, walk overs, and moving onto more difficult tricks such as aerials. Students will be spotted and assisted by instructors and also spotted in gymnastic belts. The students will learn to do combinations of tricks with rhythm and correct technique that is necessary for any dancer who wants to expand their skills.
